Cruelty free brand of the month

Makeup without the guilt. So ask yourself, what is the cost of beauty?

Nyx Cosmetics is an incredible brand that is 100% cruelty free.

2016 marked the year that i took steps towards living in a more environmentally friendly and considerate way. Thinking heavily about our planet and the creatures that live on it.

That includes switching up my beauty regime, which is very minimal and natural.

I have always been an animal lover and their welfare has always been on my mind. Yet for some reason i still eat meat, and ignore the fact it goes against every little thing i believe in. In 2013 i became a vegan, followed shortly by becoming vegetarian. I unfortunately went about it the wrong way, with very little information and fell back into old meat eating habits. It shouldn’t be a battle to do the right thing, and i decided 2016 was my year to make steps towards living more globally aware. It may sound like a small and insignificant step for those who are vegetarian/vegan for many years, but i gave up beef completely in May 2016 and it’s a small personal victory. Eating beef is one of the most damaging things you can do for the planet and giving it up was surprisingly easy. I have always believed in high protein diets for health benefits but sometimes your morals out way that ten times over. Giving up beef is a tiny step but a step none the less and i am heading in the right direction.

I wanted to continue this positive step by highlighting beauty and lifestyle brands that are 100% cruelty free. Its horrifying to think in 2017 beauty brands still test on animals and personally i’m not willing to ignore the suffering of living creatures for the sake of a lippy.

With the launch of my brand new website design i wanted to include a regular section that highlights AMAZING lifestyle and beauty brands that are cruelty free. Sometimes we just need a push in the right direction and i want to be the source for that switch to cruelty free. Every single month i hope to showcase the best of cruelty free, in the hope you will be more aware of how your beauty and lifestyle purchases are causing unnecessary suffering and cruelty to living creatures. I want to make this a positive experience and a journey we can take together, where we stop ignorant purchasing and start shopping in a more clever way. The truth is we all shop obviously and can become brainwashed by beautiful brands, promoted by beautiful people. I will openly say i have spent hundreds over the last fifteen years on these types of brands out of pure obliviousness.

When you begin to realise that your actions make an impact on the world and that there is power in being informed. Guess what, there are so many wonderful brands that are doing amazing things in the world of beauty and DON’T hurt animals in the process.

With a little bit of research you can not only look gorgeous but also be guilt free. There is something so special in knowing that you have made that extra effort to shop with care.

The cruelty free brand of the month: NYX Cosmetics

First i would like to say that this is not sponsored content, i purchased all of these goodies myself with my own money. This is a personal project, one i am proactively doing regardless of my website. By switching to only cruelty free brands i hope that it will make my life more balanced, rounded and happier. Of course i want to share this journey with others and along the way showcase the brands you SHOULD shop, and the ones that i am loving, and why.

This week i took on Nyx Cosmetics (www.nyxcosmetics.com.com ) available from Arnotts Dublin, Boots Jervis SC and Liffey Valley and even Littlewoods Ireland. The brand has a HUGE range available and are 100% cruelty free. The brand have been mentioned by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) on several occasions www.peta.org and do not test ANY of their products on animals.

Did i mention that the brand is AMAZING and prices that you will absolutely love.

Here is a little mid week look that i created using NYX Cosmetics focusing on the lips with a bold red. The rest of the look i kept really soft and natural, keeping in tone without my own personal look.

I have found such confidence in stripping back my makeup and embracing the natural.
