Drive Istria’s West Coast

One of my big trips last year seen me drive along the magnificent West Coast of Istria in Croatia. It was an amazing five days of luxurious food, sun, sea and adventure. It is a destination i would highly recommend to couples looking for an easy going and romantic experience.

Follow these directions to experience the most of Istria:

Start by driving from Pula to the Umag district. It is ESSENTIAL to rent a car to fully experience the coast of Istria, and be able to navigate efficiently from town to town.

Drink wine in Umag

Jump to the walled city of, Grožnjan. Famous for its artists, musicians and creatives

Eat luxurious food in Novigrad

Soak in the sun in Tar

Visit the Motodrom and Skyfox in Poreč

Swing by Vrsar like Casanova

Sip champagne by the sea in Rovinj

Visit a lavender farm in Svetvinčenat

Where to stay:

Here at two wonderful hotels that i was fortunate to stay in during my time in Istria. The San Rocco Hotel is located in Brtonigla and is a really traditional. Totally charming and located in a delightful village, near all the best wine experiences like Kozlović and Kabola winery and 5km from the sea.

They have plenty of great deals like 2 nights for €199 depending on the time of year.

Another highlight during my trip to Istria was saying in the modern Hotel Lone in Rovinj. The last town in our journey and by far my favourite. The hotel is located beside the sea and designed to emulate a cruise ship. The facilities here include an incredible spa, restaurant and the most delicious buffet breakfast. Rooms in Hotel Lone start from €104

Flights from Dublin to Pula for as little as €53 using skyscanner.
